Tekenen in Vrijheid?! Drawing in Freedom?!

Bibliotheek Den Haag/Perscentrum Nieuwspoort, 10 April – 10 May 2020

An exhibition on drawings and illustrators symbolising freedom in The Hague to commemorate 75 years of freedom in the Netherlands. Stories of artists, statements about freedom. Curated together with Aldje Bertrams, and in cooperation with Cartoon Movement (Tjeerd Royaards) and Syrian dreams (Ronald Bos).

What freedom do cartoonists experience in countries, where very different subjects determine the political agenda. From international illustrators drawings will be on display that in our eyes may seem ‘innocent’. A number of artists were chosen with their work, banned or not, and something is told about their background, about the often draconian punishments, or mistreatments they may incur, and for which drawings. Work by artists as Musa Kart, Zunar, Michael de Adder, Zapiro, Ali Ferzat, Rayma Suprani and Avi Katz and many others will be exhibited.

Exhibition Traveling Animals
Travelling Animals (installation view)

TRAVELLING ANIMALS

Hek in boom

It’s there at your feet
